The manager replied, “Sir, this is a personal matter, and we can’t get involved.

I can call security…”

The man interrupted, “No!

This is a maintenance issue.  The window won’t open!”

The hotel manager, trying to hold back laughter, said calmly, “Sir, the Do Not Disturb sign is just for the staff—it won’t actually lock you in!”

The man paused, clearly relieved but a little embarrassed, and said, “Oh… well, thanks. It’s just that… I’ve been avoiding room service for hours, trying not to disturb the sign!”

The manager chuckled and replied, “Well, you’re free to disturb it anytime, sir!”

But just as the manager thought the call was over, the man added, “Actually, while I have you on the line… can you tell me how to turn off the water? The bathroom faucet won’t stop running.”

“Sir,” said the manager, grinning, “you turn the knob in the opposite direction!”

A long silence followed before the man muttered, “Okay… but you really need an instruction manual for these things!”

As he hung up, the manager thought, Maybe we do!

The call went down as one of the funniest “emergencies” in the hotel’s history!
