Following a 100-minute meeting with Senate Republicans, President-elect

Donald Trump commended what he characterized as a “very strong” dialogue regarding the implementation of his agenda.

At the U.S. Capitol, Trump took a moment to honor the late

Jimmy Carter just a short distance away before briefly addressing the media about the meeting.

He answered questions concerning the California wildfires, border security, and former Republican Representative Liz Cheney.

“Regarding California, Mr. President,” a reporter asked.

“You have often stated during the pandemic that you did not believe in providing assistance to blue states.

Are you now willing to collaborate with Governor Gavin Newsom despite your previous criticisms?”

“Absolutely,” Trump replied.

“Do you believe California should continue to receive federal assistance for as long as necessary?” the reporter pressed.

“It is truly unfortunate because I have been urging Gavin Newsom to allow water to flow.

There is an abundance of water available, yet it is diverted to the Pacific Ocean in an effort to protect a small fish known as the smelt.

They are also lacking water for the smelt’s sake. Today in Los Angeles, there was no water in the fire hydrants,

which is unacceptable. We will address this issue. Ultimately, it will be resolved,” Trump asserted
