Donald Trump issues statement after American Airlines plane and army helicopter collide in mid-air

In response to the terrible American Airlines disaster that occurred in Washington, D.C., overnight, President Donald Trump released a statement.

On Wednesday, January 29, at approximately 9 p.m., an American Airlines aircraft operated by PSA Airlines collided with a US Army BlackHawk military helicopter in Washington, D.C.

There were three people on the helicopter and 60 passengers and four crew members on the commercial plane.

Both crashed into the Potomac River as Flight 5342 was getting ready to land at Ronald Reagan National Airport.

As of this writing, 19 bodies have been found, and search operations have been ongoing all night.

As one might anticipate, President Trump has been updated on the current state of affairs and has posted on his TruthSocial account overnight.

The crash “should have been prevented,” according to the 47th president.

“The plane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport,” Trump wrote in an initial post. For a long time, the helicopter was flying directly at the aircraft.

“The plane’s lights were blazing, and it was a CLEAR NIGHT. Why didn’t the helicopter turn or go up or down? Instead of asking if the helicopter saw the plane, why didn’t the control tower tell it what to do?

“It appears that this unfortunate circumstance could have been avoided. “NOT GOOD!”

“What a terrible night this has been,” the president wrote in a subsequent post. May God bless everyone.

Jimmy Mazeo saw the horrific crash firsthand, and America is still in shock over what happened.

“Until we noticed the police cars and boats, as well as the fire trucks beginning to head out to the tarmac, we didn’t really give it much thought. “It was crazy,” he said to WUSA9.

“I’m truly amazed. Of course, what happened tonight is awful, but I think it’s crazy that we had to witness it. I’m sending up prayers for everyone concerned.

American Airlines issued the following statement to UNILAD: “American Eagle Flight 5342 was involved in an accident at DCA while it was traveling from Wichita, Kansas (ICT) to Washington, D.C. (DCA).”

“PSA Airlines used a CRJ-700 to operate the flight. The aircraft had four crew members and sixty passengers.

“The crew and passengers on board the aircraft are our top priority. We are communicating with law enforcement and supporting emergency response activities.
